Turner Industries is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to oversee strategic legal initiatives, advise executive management, and supervise the legal team in Baton Rouge. The role focuses on labor, employment, IP, contracts, and regulatory matters, including interactions with outside counsel.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in corporate or firm settings, bar admission in Louisiana, and proven experience with corporate governance, board relations, and high-stakes investigations and transactions.

Qualifications

• Law degree
• Admitted to Louisiana bar
• Minimum of ten years' experience in a corporate legal department or law firm environment
• Exposure to labor and employment law; IP rights; experience with foreign jurisdictions; construction law
• Experience with corporate policies and governance and with a board of directors
• Experience supervising support staff and managing outside legal resources
• Familiarity with contracts, employment and labor law, disputes, regulatory matters, governmental investigations, and other corporate legal matters
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to health or safety

Responsibilities

• Participates in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provides continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and on legal implications of all strategic and other initiatives.
• Serves as a lawyer/legal advisor on business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
• Assists the General Counsel and/or Director of Contracts on contracts matters.
• Assesses the merits of major court cases, arbitration, or governmental investigations and defines a strategic defense with executives; approves settlements when warranted.
• Helps ensure the company complies with federal, state, and international laws and regulations.
• Assists in selecting, retaining, managing and evaluating outside counsel and experts.
• Supervises Corporate Paralegal and potentially other staff.
• Performs additional assignments per the General Counsel's direction.
