Turner Construction Company seeks an experienced attorney to provide day-to-day counsel on contracts and construction law across multiple business units. The role focuses on risk assessment, contract interpretation, and strategic negotiation to support bidding and project delivery.

Key responsibilities include advising partners, reviewing complex agreements, conducting legal research, and training teams on compliance and best practices.

Qualifications

• JD degree with a valid law license.
• Minimum of 5 years' of experience with an emphasis on construction law.
• Self-starter with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver high quality work.
• Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and applicable legislation affecting operations.
• Adaptable and flexible to operate with minimal direction in a complex environment.
• Proven written and verbal communication abilities with emphasis on problem solving and negotiation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret contracts and insurance documents.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and risk assessments across contracts/construction law.
• Advise business partners on legal, contractual and risk matters.
• Analyze and summarize legal documents and complex contracts.
• Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems for assigned units.
• Conduct and compile research; maintain organized due diligence documents.
• Review owner contracts and support bidding/negotiation processes.
• Review routine project-related agreements (e.g., BIM releases, crane swing agreements).
• Analyze change orders and waivers/releases for legal risks.
• Partner with lead counsel in management of contested matters.
• Manage litigation and corporate disclosures for RFQ/RFP responses.
• Coordinate with Corporate Secretary on resolutions for bids.
• Deliver legal training to business units on topics including ethics/compliance.
