Job summary

Turner Industries seeks an Assistant General Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance on corporate initiatives and supervise the legal department. The role includes handling government investigations, employment and labor law matters, IP work, and contractual reviews, with oversight of outside counsel.

Reporting to the Corporate General Counsel, this exempt position supports management and training, and collaborates on policy development and compliance across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Law degree and admission to the Louisiana bar.
• Minimum of ten years' experience in a corporate legal department or law firm.
• Exposure to labor and employment law, IP rights, and related areas.
• Experience with corporate policies, governance, and boards of directors.
• Experience managing outside counsel and handling contracts and regulatory matters.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screening and physical evaluation.
• Applicant must not pose a direct threat to health or safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on corporate strategies and initiatives.
• Serve as advisor on transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
• Assist with contracts and review outside counsel work.
• Assess merits of major cases and investigations and coordinate settlements when needed.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and international laws and regulations.
• Train and develop policies, handbooks, investigations and related matters.
• Supervise staff including the Corporate Paralegal and other legal resources.
