Job summary

FRONTSTEPS, headquartered in Denver, CO, is seeking a Controller to own the accounting function end to end. This hands-on leadership role covers monthly close, GAAP reporting, audits, tax, payroll, treasury, and internal controls.

You will lead a small accounting team, drive a tight close within 5–7 business days, ensure accurate financial statements, intercompany work, and strong policies in a private-equity backed SaaS setting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years in Controller/Director roles.
• CPA strongly preferred; public accounting background is a plus.
• Strong US GAAP fluency, including SaaS revenue recognition knowledge.
• Experience in PE-backed and/or SaaS environments with lender reporting.
• Proven close discipline and audit readiness.
• Multi-state tax compliance experience; PEO payroll experience is a plus.
• Sage Intacct experience preferred; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close with a 5–7 business day close.
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and schedules for management, board, and lender reporting.
• Own GL, COA, reconciliations, and intercompany eliminations.
