Job summary

Tradewind Group in Honolulu, Hawaii seeks a senior Controller to lead financial management, GAAP reporting, and statutory filings for a regulated insurance-focused business. You will oversee month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and external audits, partnering with Treasury and Operations to ensure accurate financial information.

The role supervises accounting staff, drives policy, budgeting, and forecasting, and provides strategic oversight of capital planning and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field required.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership.
• Experience in a regulated industry required; insurance experience strongly preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.

Responsibilities

• Leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close and ensures the integrity of the Company’s general ledger and financial records.
• Oversees preparation and filing of financial reports required by governmental and insurance regulatory authorities.
• Maintains the Company’s system of accounts and ensures transactions and assets are accurately recorded and appropriately supported.
• Interprets financial results and provides actionable insights to executive leadership regarding financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Oversees financial analysis, management reporting, and actual-to-budget and prior-period variance analysis.
• Coordinates annual external audits, internal audits, and periodic regulatory examinations.
