Job summary

Island Insurance, based in Hawaii, seeks a senior Finance and Accounting leader to oversee statutory and GAAP reporting, planning, and closing processes for the company. The role requires deep expertise in accounting policy, governance, and financial control.

This executive will partner with the AVP, Operations & Treasury to align accounting with receivables, treasury, and cash management, while guiding internal controls and financial planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field.
• CPA license required.
• Minimum 10–15 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership roles.
• Experience in a regulated industry; insurance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close and ensures integrity of the general ledger.
• Prepares statutory and GAAP financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Oversees preparation and filing of reports to regulatory authorities.
• Maintains chart of accounts and ensures accurate recording of transactions.
• Interprets financial results and provides insights to leadership.
• Oversees financial analysis and variance analysis.
• Coordinates audits and regulatory examinations.
• Partners with AVP, Operations & Treasury on treasury-related accounting.
• Leads accounting-related system implementations and process improvements.

Education
