An established insurance company in Hawaii is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support financial operations and oversee key accounting functions. The role includes leading financial reporting, managing month-end close, ensuring compliance with regulations, and mentoring accounting staff. Ideal candidates have 4-7 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the insurance or financial services field, and possess a strong understanding of GAAP. CPA certifications or progress towards them are highly preferred along with excellent analytical skills.
Qualifications
4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, industry experience is highly preferred.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP; statutory accounting principles familiarity is a plus.
CPA or progress toward CPA is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
Support and oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger and AR/AP.
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Assist with statutory filings and regulatory reporting.
Perform variance analysis and account reconciliations.
