Job summary

CECO Environmental is seeking a Collection Specialist to manage overdue accounts and recover payments while maintaining strong customer relationships. You will analyze aging data, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with FDCPA and CFPB guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in debt collection, credit control, or accounts receivable management.
• High School diploma required; Associates/Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Deep understanding of collection procedures, credit laws, and legal guidelines.
• Excellent negotiation, persuasion, and interpersonal skills to secure payments without damaging customer relationships.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle high volume of accounts with professionalism and tact.
• Proficiency with collection software, CRM systems, and MS Office Suite.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding collection targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to collect on overdue accounts by establishing and executing strategic collection plans tailored to each account’s history and circumstances.
• Act as the primary point of contact for delinquent accounts, employing persuasive communication to secure payments while preserving customer goodwill.
• Analyze aging reports and account histories to identify high-risk receivables and implement targeted collection strategies.
• Negotiate repayment terms, settlements, and payment plans that align with company policies and maximize recoveries.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, and customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of all collection activities, communications, and outcomes in the collection management system.
• Monitor account performance and elevate high-risk delinquencies to management.
• Ensure all collection activities comply with FDCPA, CFPB guidelines, and state laws.
• Prepare detailed reports on collection performance, aging analysis, and recovery forecasts.
• Identify opportunities to improve collection processes and workflows.
