Job summary

CECO Environmental is seeking a Collection Specialist to manage overdue accounts, negotiate settlements, and optimize cash flow. The role emphasizes strong regulatory knowledge and customer relationship management in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in debt collection, AR, or credit control, with a background in finance or accounting and proficiency in CRM and MS Office tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in debt collection, credit control, or accounts receivable management.
• High School diploma required; Associate/Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Deep understanding of collection procedures, credit laws, and legal guidelines.
• Excellent negotiation, persuasion, and interpersonal skills to secure payments without damaging customer relationships.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle high volume of accounts with professionalism.
• Proficiency with collection software, CRM systems, and MS Office Suite.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding collection targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to collect on overdue accounts by establishing and executing strategic collection plans.
• Serve as the primary contact for delinquent accounts, using persuasive communication to secure payments while preserving goodwill.
• Analyze aging reports and account histories to identify high-risk receivables and implement targeted strategies.
• Negotiate repayment terms, settlements, and payment plans aligned with company policies.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, and inquiries promptly.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of all collection activities in the system.
• Monitor account performance and elevate high-risk delinquencies to management.
• Ensure compliance with FDCPA, CFPB guidelines, and state laws.
