Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year related experience or equivalent.
• Must complete company training and FDCPA course/test for Collection Specialist Certification.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and prepare simple correspondence.
• Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills; effective telephone communication; accurate data entry.
• Strong math skills including computation of interest rates.

Responsibilities

• Complies with all aspects of FDCPA, Bankruptcy Code, company policies and procedures.
• Receives inbound customer service calls and places outbound collection calls.
• Speaks with customers by phone to determine delinquency, reviews terms, negotiates payment plans and settlements; refers disputes to Senior Manager IVA when needed.
• Requests form letters for transfer of account ownership and servicing notices.
• Processes insurance claims and collateral trade-in agreements as applicable.
• Records all interactions and account activity in the financial tracking system.
• Obtains and reviews correspondence and documents pertaining to the account.
• Coordinates collateral surrender/reinstatement and submits delinquents for repossession review.
