Job summary

Nokia is seeking a System Design Engineer to analyze carrier networking environments and craft optimized solutions. You will collaborate with Marketing, PLM, Sales, Optical, and Software Engineering to ensure effective design and deployment.

You will support RFP/RFQ responses, serve as SME for field planning, and research technical specifications while evaluating vendor options. Strong scripting and cross-functional teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; PhD preferred.
• 5+ years in the industry; 3+ years in 3rd party network design/optimization tools.
• Carrier-class networking architecture experience (WDM, IP/MPLS/GMPLS/Ethernet).
• Proficiency in scripting: Excel, Matlab, Python or similar.
• Experience with planning tools like OPNET, VPISystems, RSoft, Wandl, Cariden is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support RFP/RFQ network design responses and optimization.
• Serve as SME to guide field network planning and deployment.
• Research and develop technical specs; evaluate vendor/ internal options.
• Design optimal architectures using network transition strategies.
• Create tools to assist sales engineers in network design.
• Conduct economic analysis of networking models and features.
• Collaborate with Marketing, PLM, Sales, and Engineering on solutions.
• Stay updated on industry trends and standards to remain competitive.
