Nokia is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to work with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions across the product lifecycle.

You will design fixtures, maintain CAD models and documentation, and collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to validate designs and ensure reliable hardware. Strong CAD skills and manufacturing knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in mechanical engineering or related field required.
  • Proficient in CAD software and MS Office.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, tolerancing and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams.

Responsabilités

  • Design and develop mechanical/electromechanical test fixtures and tooling for validation and manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and docs for test equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop reliable test solutions.
  • Partner with technicians, suppliers and vendors to ensure robust hardware solutions.
  • Perform analyses, tolerance studies, and support assembly and testing.

Description du poste

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, technicians, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to transform technical requirements into robust, reliable, and manufacturable solutions. The position spans the full product development lifecycle, including concept generation, detailed mechanical design, engineering analysis, documentation, fabrication support, assembly, troubleshooting, validation, and system deployment. This role is ideally suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex mechanical, thermal, and integration challenges while contributing to the successful introduction of innovative optical networking technologies.

  • Design and develop mechanical/electromechanical test fixtures and tooling to support product validation, qualification, and manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and configuration-controlled documentation for test equipment and related hardware.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop reliable, manufacturable test solutions.
  • Partners with technicians, suppliers, and manufacturing vendors throughout design, build, troubleshooting, validation, and implementation to ensure robust hardware solutions.
  • Perform engineering analyses, tolerance studies, and design evaluations while also providing support during assembly, testing, and issue resolution.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across engineering teams, technicians, suppliers, and manufacturing partners in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of mechanical design experience in product development, validation, reliability, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Creo Parametric, Windchill, and Agile PLM systems.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis methods.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and fabrication vendors to drive manufacturable designs.
  • Hands-on experience with prototype assembly, machine shop operations and test fixture construction
