Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Capacity Procurement Representative to negotiate rates with carriers and assure efficient freight movement. The role focuses on building a carrier base, ensuring timely coverage, and delivering excellent service execution.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with relevant logistics experience and strong communication skills, with flexibility for shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with up to 1 year experience in transportation/logistics or related field.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends as needed.
• Strong communication skills and customer relationship abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate carrier purchase rates to meet revenue and margin goals.
• Liaise between internal stakeholders and carriers to coordinate freight.
• Manage freight in transit and monitor movement for on-time pickup/delivery.
• Tender loads via Carrier360 platform and maintain shipment records.
• Escalate service issues and partner with teams to improve efficiency.
• Promote best-in-class service and ensure safety in operations.
• Validate carrier credentials and tracking prior to pickup.
• Monitor market trends to adjust negotiation tactics.
