Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking an experienced Assistant Human Resources Director to assist in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Human Resources Department. The Assistant provides comprehensive support to the HR Director and serves as acting director when needed, exercising discretion in carrying out department objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in HR, psychology, business, public administration, labor relations or related field.
• Minimum of seven years supervising staff; government supervisory experience preferred.
• SHRM/PHR or FCLRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work activities and prioritizes tasks.
• Develops and revises HR policies and procedures to meet goals and compliance.
• Assists in planning and maintaining strategic, fiscal, and service plans for HR.
• Assists with development and maintenance of annual HR department budget.
• Oversees training, employee engagement, performance management, recruitment, onboarding and personnel records.
• Provides guidance to City Manager and department leaders on HR policies and employee relations.
