Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking an Assistant Human Resources Director to serve as acting director when needed and to provide comprehensive support in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures. The role requires leadership, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration with city officials and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years supervising staff.
• SHRM/PHR/SPHR or FCLRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work activities; assigns and monitors tasks; guides staff and handles complex situations.
• Develops, revises policies and priorities to ensure legislative compliance.
• Assists in developing and maintaining strategic, fiscal and service-improvement plans for HR.
• Assists with annual department budget development and maintenance.
• Oversees training, employee engagement, performance management, recruitment, onboarding and personnel records.
