Job summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking an Assistant Human Resources Director to lead advanced HR programs and support the HR Director in planning, directing, and evaluating City HR services. This role acts as Acting HR Director when needed and partners with department leaders on employee relations, talent acquisition, total rewards, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related field is required.
• Minimum eight to ten years of progressively responsible HR experience with expertise in employee relations, employment law, talent acquisition, total rewards, compliance, performance management, and organizational development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and evaluate HR department operations and performance measures.
• Coordinate talent acquisition initiatives including postings, onboarding, and candidate tracking.
• Administer total rewards programs and oversee leave and safety policies.
• Assist in risk management, workers' compensation, and OSHA compliance.
• Serve as Acting HR Director in the Director's absence and support policy administration.
