Job summary

The City of Delray Beach, FL is seeking an Assistant Human Resources Director to serve as the principal assistant to the Human Resources Director, on-site, coordinating and directing HR activities. The role supports policy development, strategic planning, budgeting, and employee relations across the City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, Business, or Public Administration.
• 7+ years supervising staff; government experience preferred.
• SHRM SPHR/PHR or FCLRP certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HR management, labor relations, and compliance.
• Excellent communication and training skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily HR operations and staff.
• Develop and revise HR policies and procedures.
• Assist with budgeting and strategic planning for HR.
• Guide labor relations and contract administration.
• Provide HR guidance to City leadership and staff.
• Promote equal employment opportunity and employee relations.
• Represent HR at conferences and professional meetings as needed.
