Job summary

City of Buda (TX) seeks a Public Works Technician to perform field maintenance, inspection, repair, and construction work on stormwater systems and related city infrastructure to keep drainage facilities functioning and reduce flood hazards.

The technician uses hand and power tools, vehicles, and electronic work orders; documents work and observed conditions; and supports other Public Works operations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required; Texas license within 90 days of employment.
• CDL valued but not required; certifications may qualify for specialized duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintains drainage channels, culverts, detention ponds, inlets and related facilities to support water flow and reduce flooding.
• Inspects stormwater facilities for blockages, erosion, damage, safety hazards and documents findings.
• Performs routine maintenance and construction work on drainage facilities using hand/power tools and equipment.
• Mows, trims vegetation and maintains access areas in drainage easements to keep systems accessible.
• Repairs or installs drainage components, fencing, concrete features and erosion-control measures.
• Operates city vehicles and equipment safely after training and authorization.
• Sets up and removes temporary work-zone controls and traffic safety devices.
• Completes work orders and logs to document work and asset condition.
• Responds to service requests and assists with emergency response and recovery activities.
• Follows safety policies and environmental requirements.
