Job summary

City of DeLand is seeking a Maintenance Worker I - Stormwater to perform semi-skilled tasks under supervision, including mowing, pond and street maintenance, and operation of light trucks and equipment.

The ideal candidate will have mowing, pond maintenance, or street maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED preferred, and a valid Florida driver’s license; able to work in varying weather conditions and lift up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Some experience in manual labor is preferable for work with hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs right-of-way/pond maintenance (grass cutting, edging, weeding, sod, seeding, fertilizing).
• Assists in painting, cleaning vehicles, concrete work, and servicing tools and equipment.
• Cleans ditches and catch basins and digs excavations.
