Job summary

The City of DeLand is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to perform semi-skilled manual tasks under supervision. Duties include lawn care, basic vehicle and equipment operation, and assisting in concrete work under the Foreman or Lead Worker.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and ability to work in varied weather conditions. The role is full-time with a 40-hour week and a pay rate of $16.75 per hour.

Qualifications

• This job requires a high school diploma or GED and preferred irrigation/grounds experience.
• Experience with yard maintenance and use of hand and power tools is beneficial.
• Ability to read and follow instructions and work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs yard maintenance such as cutting grass, edging, weeding, laying sod, and fertilizing.
• Assists in painting, pothole patching, vehicle cleaning, and basic concrete work; operates light equipment.
• Maintains equipment and supports public works activities as needed.
