Job summary

City of DeLand seeks an Equipment Operator I to operate medium to heavy automotive equipment in the Public Works/Storm Water-Maintenance division. The role requires CDL-B with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements, high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work safely and independently.

Responsibilities include operating a range of equipment, transporting machinery, assisting in water and sewer operations, and performing routine maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy automotive equipment is desirable.
• Must understand safety rules and traffic regulations for heavy equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Operates mowers, loaders, bulldozers, graders, dump trucks and other equipment.
• Drives transport to haul equipment as needed.
• Serves as laborer when required and assists in water and sewer systems maintenance.
• Repairs minor equipment and performs routine servicing.
• Complies with safety regulations and reports hazards.
