Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection invites applications for an Assistant Civil Engineer in the Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations, Distribution & Drainage. You will perform engineering analyses to support stormwater management, drainage infrastructure, and sewer system improvements.

Qualifications

  • Must have permanent Civil Service title of Assistant Civil Engineer or must have filed and passed the Civil Service Exam for Assistant Civil Engineer (Exam No. 7006).

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analyses to support stormwater management and drainage infrastructure projects.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret hydraulic, hydrologic, and infrastructure-related data.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, and presentations.
  • Review engineering plans, specifications, and calculations for compliance with DEP standards.
  • Apply hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools, GIS, AutoCAD, and related software in planning and design.
  • Coordinate with DEP bureaus, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation and assist with project tracking and coordination.
