Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection seeks an Environmental Engineer Intern within the Division of Capital Program Management for the Distribution & Drainage section. The intern will support stormwater management, drainage infrastructure, sewer systems, and environmental compliance, gaining hands-on experience under experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental, fire protection, chemical, mechanical, petroleum, aeronautical, or materials engineering (or relatedEngineering technology with 2 years of experience).
• Experience with environmental engineering work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering analyses, data collection and evaluation.
• Review design documents and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Support drainage and sewer system evaluations through field investigations, data review and modeling.
• Prepare spreadsheets, maps, figures, and technical reports.
• Use engineering software, GIS applications, and agency data management tools.
