Job summary

Sarasota County Government is seeking a Roadside Ditch Maintenance & Excavation Skilled Trades Worker to join our team. You will perform maintenance, construction, and repair of stormwater conveyance systems and road right-of-ways infrastructure, working with vacuum/jet trucks, Gradall, backhoes, and other equipment.

We value hands-on, dependable teammates who can complete work orders in a timely manner and hold a Florida Class B CDL within six months of hire; starting pay is $21.51 per hour

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in stormwater/conveyance systems and/or road right-of-way maintenance
• Must obtain Class B CDL within six months of hire and hold Florida Driver's License at time of hire

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on county open stormwater conveyance systems and appurtenances
• Restore road right-of-ways and properties related to stormwater maintenance/repairs
• Operate equipment such as vacuum/jet trucks, Gradall, backhoes, excavators and related machinery
• Respond to customer complaints about stormwater systems (pipelines, canals, ditches, erosion, water quality, flow)
• Submit work orders in a timely, professional manner
