Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking a Roadside Ditch Maintenance & Excavation Skilled Trades Worker to join our Stormwater team. You will maintain stormwater conveyance systems and road right-of-way infrastructure, operating equipment such as vacuum/jet trucks, Gradall, and excavators.

The role requires a HS diploma, 2 years in stormwater/road maintenance, and a Class B CDL within 6 months. Florida DL at hire; competitive benefits and schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years' experience in stormwater maintenance/road rights-of-way.
• Must obtain Class B CDL within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Florida Driver's License at hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on stormwater conveyance systems and appurtenances.
• Restore road right-of-ways and related properties.
• Operate specialized equipment (vacuum/jet trucks, Gradall, backhoes, excavators, arm mowers).
• Respond to stormwater complaints and erosion/control issues.
• Submit work orders in a timely, professional manner.
