Job summary

Sarasota CountyStormwater is recruiting for a trainee to maintain and inspect stormwater infrastructure, protect the community, and support utility projects. Start as a trainee for up to two years with advancement based on performance and skill development.

In this role you will operate equipment like vacuum trucks, jetting devices, backhoes, and trenchers, and you will work to resolve drainage issues while pursuing a CDL training path offered by the county.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in utility water distribution, stormwater conveyance, and wastewater systems preferred.
• Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain within six months (paid by Sarasota County).
• Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform locates, installation, maintenance, and repair of the stormwater drainage system and appurtenances.
• Operate equipment such as vacuum trucks, jetting devices, rodding, and TV evaluation equipment to maintain lines and inspect structures.
• Respond to customer complaints about water leaks, odors, backups, and quality concerns.
• Work with backhoes, trenchers, and other equipment to install, maintain, and repair mains and services.
• Support right-of-way restoration related to utility maintenance and repairs.
