Job summary

Follett Higher Education seeks an Assistant Store Manager to assist a Market Leader in driving sales and delivering exceptional customer service. You will mentor staff, manage store operations, and uphold Follett values and standards in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will oversee scheduling, training, merchandising, cash handling, and inventory, ensuring a seamless customer experience while supporting store performance and financial accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent preferred.
• 0-5 years of retail or bookstore experience preferred; prior supervisory experience preferred.
• General computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the work activities of sales team members FT/PT and Temporary, including scheduling.
• Trains new team members FT/PT and seasonal staff hired for peak seasons.
• Greets customers, answers phones, provides information, directs callers and resolves escalated issues to create a hassle-free customer service culture.
• Receives, verifies and unloads orders as necessary; operates cash register and store computer to accept payments and balance cash drawers.
• Stock shelves and take inventory per Store schedule; maintain merchandising standards and displays.
• May provide general store cleaning and straightening; assist during breaks or peak seasonal periods.
• Keyholder with opening and closing responsibilities; handle deposits and end-of-month reporting; ensure accuracy and assist accounts receivable as needed.
