Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager’s direction, you’ll supervise staff, manage merchandise and paperwork, and assist with deposits to maximize profitability while protecting assets.

You will participate in scheduling, training, and safety meetings, ensure planograms are followed, and help uphold cash controls and refunds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year retail experience and six months supervisory preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and manuals.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit control policies.
• Ability to drive to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling and training employees and safety meetings.
• Manage merchandise including receiving, stocking, displays and planograms.
• Maintain accurate inventory; control damages and markdowns.
• Assist with store cash handling and deposits; sign for refunds/overrides.
• Assist store in manager's absence.
