Job summary

Safeway in California seeks an Assistant Store Director to lead day-to-day operations in the Store Director's absence. You will drive store performance, cash control, inventory, and customer service while supervising front-end staff.

You will forecast sales, schedule labor within budgets, and implement strategies to improve product placement and promotions. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred.
• Four+ years retail or managerial experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee store operations and performance in the absence of the Store Director.
• Supervise the Front End team and evaluate front end staff performance.
• Forecast and analyze sales to meet or exceed goals.
• Schedule labor to align with sales and wage budgets.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and company policies.
• Interview and select applicants for hire and promotions.
