Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager to oversee all store processes, staffing and daily operations. You will lead recruiting, training, performance reviews, scheduling, merchandising, loss prevention and financial integrity to deliver strong results.

Responsibilities include managing stock, opening/closing, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The role requires strong organizational and leadership skills in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of management experience in retail preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to laws and policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for counseling or termination as needed.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinates meetings to reinforce safety and policies.
• Opens and closes the store as required; maintains daily staffing coverage.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify trends, profitability, and shrink; flags issues.
• Monitors ordering plans and inventory, reviews BSR and cycle counts weekly.
• Facilitates stocking and staging of merchandise per company processes.
• Ensures merchandise presentation, pricing and signage meet standards.
• Maintains accurate inventory through handling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Upholds cash control procedures and store security practices.
• Provides superior customer service leadership and a safe shopping environment.
• Keeps store clean, organized and well-equipped for tasks.
