Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations when the Store Director and Assistant Store Director are not present. The role includes supervising staff, handling customer issues, coordinating with late shifts, and supporting hiring and training efforts.

The position emphasizes merchandising execution, performance coaching, and ensuring safety and policy compliance across the store, with potential pathways into store management through leadership development.

Qualifications

• Four or more years retail experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.
• Education Level: High School Diploma (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Close shifts to run total store operations in the absence of SD/ASD.
• Coordinate with late shift and ASD to cover days off or vacations.
• Supervise employees and handle customer complaints in absence of SD/ASD.
• Initiate corrective action as needed.
• Lead merchandising and stock duties, including ordering, receiving, stocking and pricing.
