Job summary

Family Dollar in Suffolk, VA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with day-to-day functions, help customers, organize merchandise, and ensure displays are current.

This part-time role requires strong communication, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a commitment to safety and policy adherence. You will assist the Store Manager in training staff and maintaining a positive, productive store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; read and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sale floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain storefront fixtures and displays for promotions.
• Assist in ordering, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Keep store and stockroom clean and organized to company standards.
• Protect company assets, including store cash.
• Ensure policies and safety guidelines are followed by associates.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe environment with professional interactions.
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
