Family Dollar in Suffolk, VA is seeking a Part-time Associate to support store operations and customer service. You will assist with daily tasks, help customers, and ensure merchandise moves smoothly from delivery to sales floor.

The role requires basic reading of directives, strong communication, and the ability to lift up to 55 lbs. Prior store management experience is preferred, with emphasis on teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organization and transfer of merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged goods, and handle record keeping.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure Associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment and professional customer interactions.
• Keep store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, take out trash, keep areas neat.
• Other duties as assigned.
