Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee Non-Perishable Food and General Merchandise operations. You will optimize inventory, ensure appealing displays, supervise staff, and maintain customer service excellence.

Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, and collaborating with the Store Manager to meet stocking targets and profitability while complying with safety and food handling regulations.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary business training preferred.
• Minimum three years of retail store experience in grocery or similar.
• Prior department head/assistant manager experience preferred.
• Current local/state food handling certifications required or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and recommends selection and assignment of staff.
• Trains managers in stock levels, ordering, unloading, stocking, and serving customers.
• Trains employees in safe handling of lifting and cleaning equipment and food.
• Ensures scheduling coverage with Store Manager.
• Monitors performance, recommends pay raises and promotions.
• Maintains vendor relations for timely deliveries and proper billing.
• Executes 7 Day Workflow Plan to maintain stocking standards.
• Uses handheld devices to minimize stockouts and overstocks.
• Organizes receiving area and ensures merchandise presentation.
• Ensures pricing integrity, signage and planogram adherence.
• Reviews operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Maintains product knowledge and anticipates demand shifts.
• Ensures in-stock targets and efficient staging/storage.
• Minimizes damages, controls markdowns and inventory accuracy.
• Follows cash security procedures in Store Manager's absence.
• Addresses customer needs promptly and professionally.
• Takes lead on receipt and handling of new merchandise.
