Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Leader to oversee Non-Perishable Food and General Merchandise operations, ensuring accurate inventory, clean presentation, and high‑quality customer service.

Under the Store Manager, you will train staff, manage scheduling, review performance, and coordinate with vendors to maintain stock, pricing integrity, and safe store conditions. This role requires prior retail leadership and knowledge of food handling rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary business training preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling, safety, deposits, and store keys.
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing, and personnel actions.
• Understanding of local/state food handling certifications.
• Proficient with basic computer systems for signage and data sharing.
• Strong math skills for transactions and percentages.
• Experience in inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of food handling, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with staff, suppliers and customers.
• Ability to develop organization and attention to detail.
• Problem solving across store operations and relationships.
• Ability to obtain required local/state food handling management certifications.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and selects store staff including department heads.
• Trains department managers on stock levels, ordering, unloading, stocking, and serving customers.
• Ensures scheduling coverage with Store Manager.
• Maintains regular contact with up to twenty drop-ship suppliers for delivery and display.
• Executes 7 Day Workflow Plan for stocking standards and related procedures.
• Maintains inventory accuracy and cash control in Store Manager's absence.
• Maintains product pricing, signage and merchandising presentation.
• Provides safe working environment and protects company assets.
• Maintains daily contact with customers to understand merchandise expectations.
• Oversees receiving area organization and merchandising presentation.
• Supports managers and recommends pay increases and promotions.
