Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all aspects of store operations, including staffing, training, merchandising, and daily financial controls.

You will lead a team to ensure excellent customer service, manage inventory, and maintain safety standards while meeting sales targets.

This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets documents and procedures.
• Performs basic math calculations including percentages.
• Understands cash handling and deposit control procedures.
• Familiar with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knows inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effectively communicates both orally and in writing.
• Interpersonal skills required for team leadership.
• Knows recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees; ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and address gaps.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; conduct safety meetings.
• Ensure store opens and closes reliably each day.
• Open the store at least twice per week and close at least twice per week.
• Evaluate business trends, manage expenses, and monitor shrink and errors.
• Manage stock levels and orders; review plans weekly.
• Stage, stock and store merchandise per company standards.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and enforce cash controls.
