Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager to lead a team in planning and executing store operations, including staffing, merchandising and cash controls. You will drive customer service excellence, ensure compliance with policies, and manage daily open/close responsibilities.

The role emphasizes training, performance reviews, and optimizing inventory and sales through effective leadership and safety practices in a retail setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents and safety rules.
• Math calculations including percentages and totals.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring and termination practices.
• Awareness of cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and policies.
• Provide training, performance evaluations, and counseling.
• Recommend pay and advancement decisions.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; conduct meetings.
• Ensure proper staffing and opening/closing of the store.
• Open/close store at least two times per week.
• Review sales, profitability and stock trends; manage expenses.
• Order and monitor in-stock targets; manage cycle counts.
• Ensure proper merchandising presentation and pricing.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and cash controls.
• Provide exceptional customer service leadership.
