Job summary

The Gate Petroleum Company seeks an Assistant Store Manager to lead guest-focused service, support store operations, and stand in for the Store Manager when needed. You will resolve customer and employee issues, help manage inventory, stock shelves, and assist customers with product information.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, operating the register, processing payments, and performing light maintenance to keep the store safe and welcoming for shoppers.

Qualifications

• Must be of legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco products
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with customers and team members
• Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and reach (including overhead)

Responsibilities

• Arrive to work on time, consistently
• Proper uniform and grooming compliance for self and team
• Ensure team is in proper uniform and presentable
• Attend required training and safety courses
• Report safety hazards and maintain a safe work environment
• Ensure interior and exterior housekeeping during shift
• Perform minor repair and maintenance on store and pump equipment
• Check in vendors, deliveries, and orders
• Work with Store Manager and Team Leader to control operations and inventory
• Process timesheets and payroll during absence of Site Manager
• Perform bookkeeping procedures including shift check-off and bank deposits
• Greet customers and assist them with locating products
• Ensure a friendly and efficient checkout experience
• Maintain store cleanliness and landscaping; empty trashcans; ensure general upkeep
• Address employee-relations issues and enforce company policies
• Address issues such as disgruntled customers, drive-offs, and invalid payments
• Contribute to a positive team environment
• Perform any additional tasks requested by GATE
