Job summary

Safeway in California is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations in the absence of the Store Director and ASD. This role includes supervision, customer service excellence, staffing coordination and merchandising execution to support daily store performance.

The position involves training new employees, implementing merchandising policies, and collaborating with leadership to plan night stockers’ tasks and day stockers’ duties.

Qualifications

• Requires strong written and oral communication skills, leadership skills, and the ability to get along with others.
• High degree of initiative and sense of urgency.
• Available to work flexible hours (am/pm shifts).

• Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative details such as planning, reporting, meeting operational objectives, scheduling, and supervising.
• Requires the ability to judge and react to business activity.
• Requires knowledge of basic math and weights and measures.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Collaborates with the ASD on center of store operations and fills in for ASD on days off.
• Oversees total store operation in the absence of leadership, including supervision and handling customer complaints.
• Initiates corrective action as needed in the absence of senior leadership.
• Liaises between store leadership and late shift operations for smooth daily operations.
• Engages customers with enthusiastic service, drives suggestive selling, and handles customer relations.
• Performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and merchandising duties with late shift coordination.
• Trains Head Clerks/PICs for potential promotion to Third Person in Charge.
