Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager's direction, you will supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, complete paperwork, and prepare deposits.

The role includes stocking, cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting assets and reducing losses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• At least 1 year in a retail environment with 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to perform cash handling and deposit procedures.
• Ability to read diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and cashier duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, rotating displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, and deposits.
• Assist with planograms; ensure merchandise is presented as directed.
• Ensure financial integrity via cashier accountability and cash controls; manage refunds/overrides and deposits.
• Assist in managing the store in the Store Manager's absence.
