Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager, you will supervise employees, assist with merchandise presentation, deposits, and daily paperwork to support profitable, loss-free operations.

This role requires hands-on supervision, scheduling, training, and enforcing company policies while ensuring accurate inventory, cash control, and excellent service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate the register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling and training of employees and safety meetings.
• Manage merchandise through receiving, stocking, display and planograms.
• Help maintain accurate inventory and control damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Assist with store financial integrity, cash handling, deposits, refunds and overrides.
• Support store operations in the manager's absence.
