Job summary

Family Dollar in Berwick, PA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening/closing, merchandising, payroll-related tasks, and enforcing company policies to maintain a safe, welcoming shopping environment.

The role requires strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on teamwork and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and handle frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays' effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record keeping incl. payroll and cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom per company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies, safety guidelines, and procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restrooms stocked, floors swept/mopped, trash removed.
• Other duties as assigned.
