Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, inventory, stocking, and store needs. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is limited in duration.

Expect responsibilities in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, and ensuring compliance with policies. The position may involve opening/closing the store and occasional travel, with wage details noted below.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to use IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, safety, and store security policies.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, and hiring practices including compliance.
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Preference for bilingual Spanish speakers in some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence and review operating statements for trends.
