Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in executing store processes, supervising employees, and managing inventory and operations. The role focuses on developing an external candidate for the Store Manager role for a limited period.

This position involves merchandising assistance, cash handling duties, and participation in opening/closing procedures, with a strong emphasis on financial controls and store security.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.
• Proficient in interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; able to organize with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising by staging, stocking and storage of merchandise according to established practices and manager direction.
• Assists in all aspects of inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Follows prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Participates in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensures cash control and deposits meet security practices.
