Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and paperwork. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Key duties include recruitment assistance, merchandising, inventory control, customer service leadership, and ensuring financial integrity through cash handling and deposits, while maintaining a safe, well-stocked store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train staff.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at certain locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, stocking and inventory management.
• Assist in inventory management and ensure in-stock targets are met.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
