Job summary

Dollar General.Store Manager Candidate is responsible for supporting the store manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and daily operations to ensure excellent customer service and store performance. The role emphasizes developing external candidates for the Store Manager track and maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.

Primary duties include assisting in recruiting, managing stock, analyzing sales trends, and safeguarding cash and assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Adherence to federal labor laws and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to store direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and proper documentation.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in handbooks and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cash handling, deposits, and store security procedures are followed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked store environment.
• Operate the store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
