Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, including supervision, staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and cash controls, with a focus on developing internal candidates for the Store Manager role. You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory, and maintaining safe, well-stocked stores while following company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and safety rules.
• Strong numerical skills for basic math and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Experience with IBM cash registers and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with safety, keys, deposits and security procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and storage of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
