Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all employees and store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. You will recruit, train, evaluate, and coach staff, uphold safety standards, and manage inventory and cash controls.

Responsibilities include opening/closing duties, driving in-stock levels, and ensuring compliance with company policies and financial integrity.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets documents, safety rules and procedures.
• Performs basic math and percentage calculations.
• Knows cash handling procedures including deposits and accountability.
• Operates IBM cash register to generate reports.
• Understands inventory management and merchandising.
• Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Maintains good interpersonal relations.
• Knows recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices.
• Follows cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Maintains organization and attention to detail.
• Solves problems with limited standardization.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees; ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, and address performance or counseling needs.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; coordinate meetings.
• Open/close store as needed, with minimum frequency.
• Analyze operating statements for trends and expense control.
• Manage ordering to meet in-stock targets and review plans weekly.
• Stage and stock merchandise following company processes.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing, and signage compliance.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and security controls.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized store environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available to staff.
• Follow SOPs and company communications; complete paperwork on time.
• Ensure store compliance with policies and deadlines.
