Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all aspects of store operations, including staffing, training, inventory, merchandising, and customer service. The role requires hands-on leadership to open/close the store, manage finances, and ensure compliance with policies.

The successful candidate will drive sales, optimize stock levels, and maintain a safe, organized shopping environment while leading and developing a team in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and policies; ensure store is staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions or counseling.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events to ensure safety and policies.
• Ensure store is adequately staffed and opened/closed regularly; personally open/close at least two times per week.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify trends, profitability and turn, and opportunities for expense control.
• Order to meet in-stock targets; review ordering plan and inventory issues weekly; follow up on stock replenishment.
• Facilitate efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per company procedures.
• Ensure merchandise is presented according to practices; use fixtures, pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control and cash procedures.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, organized store and safe environment.
• Follow SOPs and company communications; ensure compliance.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines.
