Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. You will recruit and train staff, conduct performance evaluations and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.

Responsibilities include open/close leadership, inventory management, in-store safety, and ensuring exceptional customer service while maintaining a clean, well-organized shopping environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring and termination practices; legal compliance.
• Familiarity with cash, facility and safety control policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, identify gaps for solutions.
• Make recommendations on pay and advancement.
• Communicate expectations and coordinate safety and policies.
• Open and close the store as required, ensuring coverage.
• Analyze operating statements for sales, profitability and stock turns.
• Manage ordering to meet in-stock targets and review inventory plans weekly.
• Stage, stock and store merchandise following company processes.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing and signage meet standards.
• Maintain accurate inventory and security controls.
• Provide customer service leadership and a clean, safe environment.
• Ensure tools and resources are available to perform tasks.
• Adhere to SOPs and company policies; complete documentation timely.
